angry dan's london borough of limericks

This was artist Angry Dan's first solo exhibition, extending out on to the streets of Walthamstow with a series of 9 murals he'd previously painted in the surrounding area. Angry Dan created a mural hunt so that each person who picked up a map and spotted his murals in situ won a print. Dan brought his studio to the gallery, sitting in the space every day typing new limericks for future works, and meeting visitors and passers-by.

hewing wittare present: inward - coming in from outside with maryam hina hasnain & veera rustomji

As part of the Art Licks 2019 theme of Interdependence, Hasnain and Rustomji created a dialogue between their work and practice. Hasnain's fabric pieces depicted the unravelling of non-linear historical narratives of South Asia's fractured past in her cut textile pieces, while Rustomji explored ideas of masculine identities and power play, painting directly onto fabric, in this case bedsheets and pillowcases.

Jonny Voss: forest of Drawing

Illustrator Jonny Voss used large rolls of paper to record his journeys during the Summer of 2019, including Norfolk and Wales and displayed his 'diaries' at 1B Window Gallery. Like a visual stream of consciousness, it suited his love of drawing, both abstract and figurative as a way to record his memories. Jonny loves working on large-scale pieces, and has completed commissions for Selfridges, private murals and mark-making workshops with local schools.
